It’s WWW Wednesday! It’s the day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

Hello beautiful people! And how are we doing today? Myself, I’m doing okay. I’m working on ending my reading slump by reading some fun and interesting books.

What are you currently reading?

Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner

This book is proving to be full of references to the noir films of old. I’m having a good time reading it thus far, which is good because I had high expectations for this one.

What did you recently finish reading?

Servant Mage by Kate Elliott

I recently reviewed this book. Like Monday recently. Truth be told I wasn’t a big fan. I didn’t DNF it, but it was a close one. You can read more about my thoughts and feelings here.

A Master OF Djinn by P. Djeli Clark

This one just came through on my library app, so I guess I am reading it next! I had other bookish plans, but life doesn’t always work out the way you expect it to. I have high hopes for this one too, as it has garnered all the praise from all the people! Well, not all the people.

What are you currently reading? This inquiring mind wants to know!

WWW Wednesday- January 19, 2022

Hello beautiful people! It’s WWW Wednesday! The day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

What are you currently reading?

The Servant Mage by Kate Elliot

I started this novella the other day and it’s taken me a while to read through it. That’s no fault of the book. That’s all on me. Cause COVID fog. I’m hoping to have this finished in time to have a review up for it next week.

What did you recently finish reading?

But for real, the COVID fog got the best of me here recently. Plus I had a book return to the library before I actually finished it. So there is no finished book for the last week. These things happen. We embrace them and move forward and hope the COVID fog goes about its business and leaves me alone!

A Letter to Three Witches by Elizabeth Bass

I got this one through NetGalley for review, so I do need to read that. It also helps that it sounds so cute! And apparently, I’m a sucker for those genre romances that sound cute. This is a new development in my life, and I have to say, I’m not mad about it.

I’ll try not to complain about COVID fog too much. It’s the most annoying of all my symptoms as it prohibits my ability to read all the things! I’m hoping to have at least one book read by the end of the week. Wish me luck!

WWW Wednesday- January 5, 2022

Hello beautiful people! It’s WWW Wednesday! That most auspicious of days when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

And how are you doing today? Me, I’m doing alright. Woke up to my cat’s screaming…again. She used to let me sleep, now she complains if I’m not up to pet her at an hour she deems appropriate. More time for doing things around the house I guess. Or I could just watch Encanto for the fiftieth time. It’ll probably be that last one because that movie is pretty awesome.

What are you currently reading?

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig

Alright, so technically this is a bit of a cheat as I haven’t started it yet. I finished my latest book last night before I went to bed and I need something new to read. This is a library hold through the Libby app so I have to give that a read. I was planning on starting it today anyway. And a story about immortals? I’ll read that.

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

I was hoping to be able to finish this as an audiobook because I like the narrator, I just don’t have the time to listen to it right now. I do have time to read it though, so I’ll be finishing the rest of the book through its physical counterpart. Also, yes, I know the holiday season is over. I started this before Christmas and just didn’t have time to finish it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Once More Upon a Time by Roshani Chokshi

This cute story is about a prince and a princess who fall in love, only for the princess to become ill and have a witch heal her. The price? Their love for each other. And that’s only the beginning of this novella. This is a story about rediscovering love through living life, and I loved it. It’s also about overcoming toxic families, because wow.

Servant Mage by Kate Elliot

I got approved for this novella through NetGalley and am so excited to read and review it for you. Magic and rebellion and assassination plots! It sounds like so much fun! I don’t know how the author is going to squeeze all of that into a 169 page book!

I still can’t believe I haven’t finished that Christmas book. Today my friends! Today!

WWW Wednesday- December 8, 2021

Well hello everyone! How goes the day? Personally, I’m sitting here in my holiday sweatshirt (it has planets on it!), listening to my holiday tunes and writing up what I am sure is going to be a throughly interesting blog post.

Did I mention the gingerbread tea? No? I should have. It’s delicious.

And hey! It’s Wednesday! That means it’s WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. WWW Wednesday asks three simple questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

I know. I was reading this last week. Well, I got interrupted by life. It happens sometimes. I can tell you that I am enjoying what I have read so far. Also, it’s sold out, like, everywhere if you are interested in it. So ebook is your best option. Sorry.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Using The Time Machine for First Lines Friday a couple of weeks ago made me want to pick up the book. It was pretty good. A little flowery for me, but that’s to be expected of a Victorian story. Also, does anyone else remember Wharehouse 13? You know, the season when they made H.G. Wells a woman? Good stuff that show.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Absynthe by Brenden P. Bellecourt

I was supposed to have had this up for review earlier this week. Oops. I should have this book finished by the middle of next week if my schedule holds true. Let’s face it, when does that ever happen.

But seriously though. Gingerbread Festival tea by Harney and Sons. Exquisite.

WWW Wednesday-December 1st

Well hello folks! And how are you today? Have you recovered from your Turkey Day festivities yet? I still have a suitcase that I need to unpack from my travels. I will probably get to that today. I was too busy running around town trying to be an adult yesterday that I forgot to do it.

Life happens.

But today is WWW Wednesday!

I started this one this morning and I am only a few pages in but it’s off to a promising start! It was a book club pick this month and I just so happened to already own it! Carmen gets laid off from her job and has to go live with her sister, Sofia. This is not ideal for either of them. But Sofia gets Carmen a job working in her client’s bookshop just in time for the Christmas. It has cute and sweet written all over it. I can’t wait to get further into it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs

I read this book on the flight back from Florida and finished before the flight ended. Which meant I had to listen to the talkative drunk without a distraction the rest of the flight. Fun. I can’t tell you much about the plot of this book, just that it’s not what you think it is. Also, it’s the 7th of the Mercy Thompson series, so you know I loved it.

Night Broken by Patricia Briggs

The 8th book in the Mercy Thompson series. I adore this series and I’m excited to read this next book in the series. I know, I’ve already read it before, but that doesn’t stop me from looking forward to it!

WWW Wednesday- November 24th

Hello fellow humans! I hope you are ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow and don’t have to go out into the throngs of people today. If you do, I wish you luck and will pray for your safe return to your domicile.

Despite the chaos of the day, today is WWW Wednesday!

The Unbound Empire by Melissa Caruso

This poor book has been staring at me from my TBR cart for the last year. And I finally picked it up. I just started it last night, so I haven’t been able to form an opinion yet, but what I have read I am really enjoying. So I guess I have formed an opinion. I will say this book, which is the final book in the Swords and Fire series, has a lot to live up to. Good luck book!

What did you recently finish reading?

River Marked by Patricia Briggs

I basically hit a wall in my reading this month so I decided to pick up a book I know I would enjoy to help me get out of the slump. I really enjoy the Mercy Thompson series, if you haven’t guessed from my previous posts where I wax poetically about the books. It’s only a problem if you admit it. This, by the way, is book number six in the series.

Out Of The Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis

It was quite a surprise when I learned that C.S. Lewis, who brought us The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, also wrote a sci-fi novel. Naturally, I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. It’s a short book, so it’s perfect to try and read during the next couple of crazy days.

Good luck today with your Thanksgiving prep. And I promise you, your house is clean enough.

WWW Wednesday-November 17th

Well hello everyone! And how are we doing today? I treated myself to a movie yesterday and went and saw Tick Tick Boom!. The movie musical based on Jonathan Larson’s (the guy who wrote Rent) life, and directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. If you don’t know, Larson’s life was tragically cut short and he died the night before Rent began previews on Broadway. He wrote Tick Tick Boom! before he wrote Rent, and it just so happens to be an autobiographical musical. If you like musicals, and you like Rent, I encourage you to see it.

As for my Mental Health this week, it’s doing pretty good. My life has been consumed by Animal Crossing though, so I have been slacking on my reading. That’s filling me with dread. Oh well. The month’s only halfway done. I have time.

What are you currently reading?

We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen

I started this one last night and only got a few pages in before I realized how late it was. I will be continuing this as the first few pages seem really good. Plus it’s on my TBR for the month, and I’ve been wanting to read it for a while.

The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell

I know, I was reading this two weeks ago, but in my defense, I really didn’t like the way the one character was voiced on the audiobook. So yeah, I stopped listening to it for a week. I just picked up the Kindle version the other day and have been reading that since.

What did you recently finish reading?

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

I finished this just last night and I still don’t know how I feel about this book. Was it an interesting read? To be sure. But was it a good read? Eh. I felt it fell more middle-ground for me. This is a book that commands your presence but it leaves you wanting more, and not in a good way. So yeah. I gave it three stars Goodreads.

The Unbound Empire by Melissa Caruso

This has been on my TBR pile for a year! A year! To be fair, I’ve had lots of books on my TBR for that long. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and will be happy to see how it concludes.

What are you reading right now?

WWW Wednesday-November 3rd

Hello y’all! How are you today? I hope you are feeling well both physically, mentally and emotionally. If you’re not, take care of yourself today. Drink water, take your meds, wrap yourself in a cocoon of blankets, and pick up a book that you love, an old favorite, if you will. I myself have very few spoons today, so writing this is a big accomplishment.

Today’s post is a WWW Wednesday.

The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell

This is a book club pick for one of my groups. I started it on audiobook because it was on Scribd, but I’m not enjoying it. I find the narrator irritating. But not for the reason you think. I like her for one of the characters and not for the other one. It takes me out of the story every time I have to hear her read the one I don’t like, so I will be picking up a physical copy, or a Kindle one. I haven’t decided yet.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Final Girls Support Group by Grady Hendrix

Technically I haven’t finished this one yet. I’m just not in the mood to read it, unfortunately. I started it over a week ago and got a hundred pages into it and just lost interest. Now it is a good book. I was enjoying what I was reading, I just had life stuff happen and I haven’t picked the book up since. And to be perfectly honest, I probably won’t right now. I will try again later, but just not right now.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko

I just got this from my library, so I am excited to get started on it. I’ve heard such good things about this YA series and I hope it lives up to the hype. By the way, if you don’t use Libby (powered by Overdrive) through your local library, what are you doing? Check to see if your local library uses it and then sign up! It’s free! Libby is an app you can get on your phone, and you can read the books you get on it there or on your Kindle. I don’t know if it’s available everywhere, but I do know it’s available in the US and Canada.

Well, there is my WWW Wednesday for the week. What are you reading this week? Anything good I should know about that I can add to my seemingly never ending TBR Pile?

WWW Wednesday- October 27th

Well, it’s another WWW Wednesday where I didn’t write the post the day before. In all fairness, I stopped reading my book towards the beginning of it last week and fell down a fanfiction rabbit hole. My favorite pairing at the moment is Darcy Lewis, you know, from Thor and WandaVision, paired with almost anyone from the MCU. Reading a backlog of those took about four days. And there are a ton of good stories there.

Remember, any reading is valid!

What are you currently reading?

The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix

I’m not gonna lie, I barely started this one before I got distracted by the aforementioned fanfiction. But I have picked it up again and what I have been reading has intrigued me. It’s the story of a group of Final Girls that meets in a support group led by their therapist. When one of the girls turns up dead, they all wonder if they could be next. Such is the life of a final girl.

What did you recently finish reading?

A Cosmology of Monsters by Shaun Hamill

I must confess, I didn’t actually finish this one. I DNF’d it. It wasn’t because I thought it would be cute horror (what was I thinking?), it was because it just wasn’t very good. The premise was interesting. A kid whose family has built their lives around the fact that their dad sees monsters, but Noah sees monsters too, and he lets them inside. It just fell really flat for me.

What do you think you’ll read next?

River Marked by Patricia Briggs

Honestly, I’m on the fence about what I’ll read once I’ve finished Final Girls. I have two novella’s left to read to finish my TBR off, but I want to read something I know I’m going to enjoy. So it will probably be River Marked, the sixth book in the Mercy Thompson series. Can’t tell you the plot, because it’s the sixth book, but I will say, Mercy gets in touch with her Indigenous roots.

And there ya go. My WWW Wednesday. I can’t believe I spent so much time reading fanfiction in the last week. It really is a time suck. But a fun one!

WWW Wednesday-October 20th

Happiest of Wednesday’s everyone! Now, tell me, is it a Bones day? Because I haven’t checked yet and my day can’t go on until I know.

Noodles the pug has taken over my life. If you want to know more about Noodles, here is a helpful article from NPR.

Anyway, you didn’t come here for Noodles, you came here for WWW Wednesday!

A Cosmology of Monsters by Shaun Hamill

Noah’s dad can see monsters, so he built a horror theme park around them. But Noah sees monsters too, and unlike the rest of his family, he let’s them in. I just started this last night and have yet to form any kind of opinion, but I’ve really been looking forward to this one.

Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper

Emmy hasn’t been home in a long time, thanks in no small part to a broken heart. But when a spellcasting tourney her family oversees takes place, she must return home. Only once there she runs into Talia, who was also seeing her ex. Turns out, her best friend was also seeing said ex at the same time. Now the two want revenge, but is Emmy in? This is my second romance read this month. What is even happening with me? I even liked it. What? And there is a sequel coming out next year? Want!

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix

A group of Final Girls, and their therapist, form a support group to help each other deal with what they’ve been through, but when they start being picked off, they realize they have to stick together to survive. I loved A Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by the author and I have been waiting until the spookiest of months to read this one.

Do any of these sound good to you? What are you picking up next?
