Happy Sunday everyone!
It’s odd to be getting a post from me on a weekend, but it’s Banned Books Week!
That week when we celebrate all books, well, banned!
Want some more information on banned books? You can check out this website, or this one!
I have chosen to read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. It was banned/challenged in 2014 for gambling, religion, offensive language, political viewpoint, and graphic depictions. I can’t wait to read it.
There are hundreds of books to choose from, and some of the lists give the reasons why they were banned or challenged, some of them are pretty funny. For example, one of the reasons Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James got banned was because teenagers might try it. I mean, yes, but also, that’s pretty funny.
So go forth and enjoy your banned books! If that means you read Harry Potter for the 50 millionth time, do it!
Happy Banned Books Week!!
