WWW Wednesday: November 16th

Well, I don’t know about you but it’s been a fun week. I went on a girls’ weekend and had a fantastic time. Now I’m prepping for the upcoming holiday season by cleaning and decorating. I may have had to buy a new, smaller, Christmas tree because I put a bookshelf where my bigger Christmas tree used to go. Oops.

I know I haven’t done it in a while, but let’s do WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is the day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

What are you currently reading?

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone got started as an audiobook while I was coming back from the girls’ weekend, but the male narrator didn’t do a particular accent very well, and it took me out of the story. I have the physical copy so I picked it up at home. This book is pure chaos and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

Upgrade by Blake Crouch is a book club pick and I just started it this morning. In fact, I got one chapter into it before I realized I needed to write a blog post so…does one chapter count?

What did you recently finish reading?

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center was not what I expected from a rom-com, but I liked it nonetheless. I listened to this as an audiobook on the way out of town and it was well performed. I had a fun time listening to it and would highly recommend it.

Isn’t It Bromantic by Lyssa Kay Adams is the fourth entry into the Bromance Book Club series. This one is about the Russian, as he is affectionately referred to by his friends. It’s the marriage of convenience trope, but they are already married at the start of the book. I loved it and would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys romance novels.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Unbound Empire by Melissa Caruso is what’s up next on my TBR and I am excited to start it. Of course, I also have two other books that I want to pick up, but I’m hoping to actually finish that TBR this month. This book is the third and final story in the Swords and Fire series and I loved the first two books.

So tell me, what are you reading now?

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf by Kimberly Lemming

This is the second book in the Mead Mishaps series and I saw the first one on TikTok and I couldn’t resist. They are…um…different. They don’t take themselves seriously and have so many pop culture references for books set in a fantasy world. This book is a romantic comedy novella and is available on Kindle Unlimited.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m torn between reading a few books. I recently picked up the classic Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall and have been wanting to read that for a while, but I also have Chef’s Kiss by TJ Alexander. I also just got A Mirror Mended by Alix E. Harrow. Mood reading is not for the faint of heart my friends.

This is the 36th book in the In Death series. This particular story is about a woman who is murdered and our plucky (Eve could never be considered plucky) detective can’t quite figure out why this particular woman. I’m only a few chapters in as I started it last night and it’s going good so far. What else would I expect from this series?

What did you recently finish reading?

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

This is the second book in the Bromance Book Club series. This particular one is about Mack, who enjoys the espionage romance trope most of all. Of course, he gets caught up in a plot to help his love interest. I really enjoyed this story and had a fun time reading it. It did have some tense moments, because espionage.

What are you currently reading?

The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer

I only just started it last night and I am only a few pages into the story and it’s due back today. I found the audiobook on Scribd though, so I’m going to switch to that. I loved the start of the story so I am excited to continue. Also, the ship’s operating system sounds like our protagonist’s mom. Yeah, that’s disturbing.

What did you recently finish reading?

Delusion In Death by J.D. Robb

The 35th book in the In Death series. This one is about a killer who decides that mass murder through hallucinations is the way to go. It’s very gruesome so you’ll want to check trigger warnings.

WWW Wednesday: June 1, 2022

Well hello, beautiful people! I’m sorry for my extended absence. I was having some problems with the blog that seem to be resolved now, and once that was taken care of I decided to take the rest of the month off. On the downside, no posts. On the upside, I read 17 books last month. Go me.

But enough of that. It’s WWW Wednesday! It’s the day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

What are you currently reading?

Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert

This is the third book in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert. This particular book is based around Helen of Troy. In this book, she happens to be the sister of the reigning Zeus and he offers her hand in marriage to whomever completes the tasks to become the next Ares. It’s off to a little bit of a slower start than the others, but I’m still enjoying it, so I’m going to keep reading.

What did you recently finish reading?

Electric Idol by Katee Robert

This was the second book in the Dark Olympus series. This one is the story of Eros and Psyche. In this one, Eros is Aphrodite’s hit man and is ordered by his jealous mother to kill Psyche, so naturally, he marries her instead. I really enjoyed this one and finished it, not even in one day, but in like four hours!

What do you think you’ll read next?

Delusion In Death by J.D. Robb

This would be the 35th entry in the In Death series. This one deals with mass delusions as cause of death. Woosh. Of course, I also have two books from the library checked out so I should probably try to read those first…

And that’s it! I’ll have a reading wrap up for the month coming soon so you can see what all 17 of those books are. Just a hint…In Death takes up a lot of those spaces.

What are you currently reading?

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldtree

Okay, so I started this book yesterday, and it’s good. It’s a cozy fantasy story about an Orc who decides she’s had enough of her life and just wants to open a café. The only problem is that my copy of the book has holes in it! It’s a self published book and I don’t want to hurt the authors sales, but I don’t want to keep a damaged copy. I know it’s available on Kindle Unlimited, but I want to own this one. Oh well…the moral dilemma.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Impossible Us by Sarah Lotz

So I have a review of this one coming up tomorrow. This book is complicated for me. Very complicated.

Visions in Death by J.D. Robb

This marks book nineteen and month four of the re-read. I’m really having a lot of fun with the re-read, and I’m glad I’m not trying to keep such a brutal pace like I was back in February.

What will you read next?

Survivor In Death by J.D. Robb

I remember this being on of my favorites in the series, so it has that to live up to. Here’s hoping!

So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens

I just started this last night, so I can’t form an opinion yet, but I have high hopes! Also, they don’t tell you that the back of this book is just as stunning as the front!

What did you recently finish reading?

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

I really enjoyed listening to this entire series on audiobook. They were all so good, and I found a lot of things that I can relate to in this book. But I loved this entry into the series. It was such a good ending. TV Show writers wish they could end a series this well.

What do you think you’ll read next?

WWW Wednesday: March 9, 2022

Well hello, beautiful people! It’s Wednesday! I’m planning to spend the day reading. I have fallen woefully behind in my reading, with ARCs that need to be read, and book club deadlines coming up here shortly. Must read more!

I’m also have “I will not go on TikTok. I will not go on TikTok.” repeating in my head.

But it’s time for WWW Wednesday! Huzzah!  It’s the day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

What are you currently reading?

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

I am listening to this as an audiobook (narrated by Adjoa Andoh) and I am loving it so far. I’m loving the representation in this book. It’s not often you see a chronically ill protagonist, and I love that it’s not just mentioned and then forgotten.

Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

I just started this ARC the other day and am not very far into it. It has a very interesting premise. It takes during the Covid lockdown of 2020 and the main character takes an UberEats type job. It lands him in all sorts of shenanigans.

What did you recently finish reading?

Nothing. Sorry, y’all. The last book I picked up I DNF’d and that was back in February.

What will you read next?

Purity In Death by J.D. Robb

The fifteenth installment in the In Death series. It will be good to pick up where I left off!

What are you currently reading?

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I started this book last night, made it 100 pages in, and I have decided I love it already. This fake dating story started its life as a Reylo fanfic and if you look close enough, there are some hints at that early beginning. It’s great.

What did you recently finish reading?

Betrayal In Death by J.D. Robb

This is the twelfth installment in the In Death series. I am plugging along quite nicely in my re-read. I enjoyed this book, as I have all the others, and love seeing it when someone from Roarke’s past shows up.

Seduction In Death by J.D. Robb

I pulled it off the shelf last night so I would be prepped and ready to go for when I finished The Love Hypothesis. I figure a nice, gruesome murder will be a nice change of pace, you know, from all the other books about murder I’ve been reading this month.
