It’s WWW Wednesday! It’s the day when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

Hello beautiful people! It’s the middle of the week! Huzzah! I don’t know why I’m excited about this, but I am. So we shall just go with that. I still have a whole lot of stuff I would like to accomplish this week. Has anyone seen Moonfall yet? It looks like a fantastic mess. I want to see that before the week is out!

But because it’s Wednesday it means it’s WWW Wednesday!

What are you currently reading?

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

I started the audiobook for this yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is narrated by Broadway’s Patti Murin! And she’s going a good job with this book! I’m only a few chapters in though, so I’m still withholding judgment.

Mickey7 by Edward Ashton

I started this book a few days ago and I’m slowly making my way through it. It reminds me a lot of The Martian in the style of writing. I should have a review up for it in a couple of days.

What did you recently finish reading?

Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb

I finished this one last night. This particular entry has one of my favorite endings in the series. No, I won’t spoil it. I mean, for the ninth book in the series, it should have a really good ending eventually.

Witness in Death by J.D. Robb

The tenth book in the In Death series is next up. I don’t even remember what this one is about. I’m going to guess a crime of some kind takes place, probably murder, and our protagonist has to solve it with the help of her crime-fighting team. Just a hunch.

What are you planning on reading next?

Well hello! And how are we doing today? After not having the spoons to deal with pretty much all of yesterday I am back and rearing to go. By the way, if you haven’t heard of spoon theory, check it out. It’s a great way for people with chronic illnesses to describe their health. I don’t have a chronic illness, but I am neurodivergent, and my mental health can take a toll on my physical health, so I do use spoon theory.

But today is all about the three W’s!

What are you currently reading?

Holiday in Death by J.D. Robb

I just started this today, so I’m only a few pages into it. It’s the story of Eve and Roarke’s first holiday together! Of course, there is also a murder, involving Santa of course, to solve. I forsee that I am going to love it, just like the rest of the series.

What did you recently finish reading?

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

A retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth with a dark and spicy twist. It was highly touted on the book side of TikTok (a very dangerous place!) and I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed, which surprised me.

Conspiracy in Death by J.D. Robb

The eighth book in the In Death series sees Eve pitted against a mysterious serial killer, and her job is on the line. From what I remember it will be a fun ride!

Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade

Another book the internet made me buy. But honestly, how could I resist? A plus-sized protagonist and our main characters write fanfic. Yup, this book was meant for me.

Hmm, all my book covers seem to match this week. I did not do that on purpose, I swear.

Hello beautiful people! Today is Groundhog Day here in America. It’s a day built on superstition. Basically, if the groundhog sees its shadow, we get more winter. Lots of people get a kick out of it, and Punxsutawney Phil (the aforementioned groundhog) is a national celebrity. He’s also adorable, so that helps.

On to the W’s!

What are you currently reading?

Ceremony In Death by J.D. Robb

I started reading this one last night. These books are short (usually around 300 pages) and make for quick and fun reads. It’s the 5th book in the In Death series. I am really enjoying myself in this readthrough. I can’t remember the trigger warnings for this book, but I recommend looking them up.

A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark

I just started this one. And yes, I’m trying to read this while I’m reading the In Death series. You will see that a lot. At this point, I have no opinion of this book, I’m only a few pages into it, but I have high hopes!

What did you recently finish reading?

Rapture In Death by J.D. Robb

I loved this book (go figure). In it, Eve is investigating the apparent suicide of a defense attorney who, it seems, loves his life. This tale has trigger warnings for suicide, mentions of rape, and mentions of child abuse.

Vengeance In Death by J.D. Robb

I am not surprised that I am reaching for this one next, as it is book six in the series. You’ll be seeing these for a while. Sorry (not sorry) about that.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I caved and bought it. It should be here today, in fact. It is extremely hyped, so I hope it is able to fulfill my expectations. I’ve also heard it’s supposed to be a little funny, so here’s hoping!

What side do you stand on? Do you hope the groundhog sees his shadow and thus the rest of us will suffer because we don’t like winter weather? Or are you optimistic that it will be a cloudy day and Phil will miss out on this time and winter will be over early? Enquiring minds want to know.

Hello beautiful people! And how are we doing today? Myself, I’m doing okay. I’m working on ending my reading slump by reading some fun and interesting books.

What are you currently reading?

Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner

This book is proving to be full of references to the noir films of old. I’m having a good time reading it thus far, which is good because I had high expectations for this one.

What did you recently finish reading?

Servant Mage by Kate Elliott

I recently reviewed this book. Like Monday recently. Truth be told I wasn’t a big fan. I didn’t DNF it, but it was a close one. You can read more about my thoughts and feelings here.

A Master OF Djinn by P. Djeli Clark

This one just came through on my library app, so I guess I am reading it next! I had other bookish plans, but life doesn’t always work out the way you expect it to. I have high hopes for this one too, as it has garnered all the praise from all the people! Well, not all the people.

What are you currently reading? This inquiring mind wants to know!

What are you currently reading?

The Servant Mage by Kate Elliot

I started this novella the other day and it’s taken me a while to read through it. That’s no fault of the book. That’s all on me. Cause COVID fog. I’m hoping to have this finished in time to have a review up for it next week.

What did you recently finish reading?

But for real, the COVID fog got the best of me here recently. Plus I had a book return to the library before I actually finished it. So there is no finished book for the last week. These things happen. We embrace them and move forward and hope the COVID fog goes about its business and leaves me alone!

A Letter to Three Witches by Elizabeth Bass

I got this one through NetGalley for review, so I do need to read that. It also helps that it sounds so cute! And apparently, I’m a sucker for those genre romances that sound cute. This is a new development in my life, and I have to say, I’m not mad about it.

I’ll try not to complain about COVID fog too much. It’s the most annoying of all my symptoms as it prohibits my ability to read all the things! I’m hoping to have at least one book read by the end of the week. Wish me luck!

WWW Wednesday- January 5, 2022

Hello beautiful people! It’s WWW Wednesday! That most auspicious of days when we answer the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? It’s hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm.

And how are you doing today? Me, I’m doing alright. Woke up to my cat’s screaming…again. She used to let me sleep, now she complains if I’m not up to pet her at an hour she deems appropriate. More time for doing things around the house I guess. Or I could just watch Encanto for the fiftieth time. It’ll probably be that last one because that movie is pretty awesome.

What are you currently reading?

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig

Alright, so technically this is a bit of a cheat as I haven’t started it yet. I finished my latest book last night before I went to bed and I need something new to read. This is a library hold through the Libby app so I have to give that a read. I was planning on starting it today anyway. And a story about immortals? I’ll read that.

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

I was hoping to be able to finish this as an audiobook because I like the narrator, I just don’t have the time to listen to it right now. I do have time to read it though, so I’ll be finishing the rest of the book through its physical counterpart. Also, yes, I know the holiday season is over. I started this before Christmas and just didn’t have time to finish it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Once More Upon a Time by Roshani Chokshi

This cute story is about a prince and a princess who fall in love, only for the princess to become ill and have a witch heal her. The price? Their love for each other. And that’s only the beginning of this novella. This is a story about rediscovering love through living life, and I loved it. It’s also about overcoming toxic families, because wow.

Servant Mage by Kate Elliot

I got approved for this novella through NetGalley and am so excited to read and review it for you. Magic and rebellion and assassination plots! It sounds like so much fun! I don’t know how the author is going to squeeze all of that into a 169 page book!

I still can’t believe I haven’t finished that Christmas book. Today my friends! Today!

WWW Wednesday-December 15, 2021

Well hello beautiful humans! Today is proving to be interesting as my cat woke me up bright and early because she decided that I just needed to be awake. The hubs, or course, slept through her waking me up, because she was quiet about it! Evil cat is evil. But she’s also cute so…yeah. I cuddled the crap out of her.

What? I’m weak.

Today is Wednesday! That means it’s WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. WWW Wednesday asks three simple questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Absynthe by Brendan P. Bellecourt

I am three fourths of the way through this book and I am loving every word. I can’t believe it hasn’t gotten more hype. It’s an alternate history story of a man who, following World War 1, has PTSD and discovers he has the ability to cast illusions. I’ll have a review for it up later this month, but if the rest of the book lives up to that promise, it will be a good one.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

The story of Carmen, who loses her job and has to move in with her family only to be asked by her sister to work in Mr. McCreadie’s bookshop for the Christmas season. I have a review coming for this tomorrow, but this book was so cute. It’s the perfect warm and cozy read.

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

This books sounds like a cozy read to me! Ivy finds a Santa suit in her newly purchased home and wants to get to the bottom of a note left in the suit. I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope it doesn’t let me down!

But also, this my evil cat who likes to wake me up early and knock stuff off of counters in the middle of the night. Isn’t she cute!

Have a happy Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday- December 8, 2021

Well hello everyone! How goes the day? Personally, I’m sitting here in my holiday sweatshirt (it has planets on it!), listening to my holiday tunes and writing up what I am sure is going to be a throughly interesting blog post.

Did I mention the gingerbread tea? No? I should have. It’s delicious.

What are you currently reading?

The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

I know. I was reading this last week. Well, I got interrupted by life. It happens sometimes. I can tell you that I am enjoying what I have read so far. Also, it’s sold out, like, everywhere if you are interested in it. So ebook is your best option. Sorry.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Using The Time Machine for First Lines Friday a couple of weeks ago made me want to pick up the book. It was pretty good. A little flowery for me, but that’s to be expected of a Victorian story. Also, does anyone else remember Wharehouse 13? You know, the season when they made H.G. Wells a woman? Good stuff that show.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Absynthe by Brenden P. Bellecourt

I was supposed to have had this up for review earlier this week. Oops. I should have this book finished by the middle of next week if my schedule holds true. Let’s face it, when does that ever happen.

But seriously though. Gingerbread Festival tea by Harney and Sons. Exquisite.

WWW Wednesday-December 1st

Well hello folks! And how are you today? Have you recovered from your Turkey Day festivities yet? I still have a suitcase that I need to unpack from my travels. I will probably get to that today. I was too busy running around town trying to be an adult yesterday that I forgot to do it.

Life happens.

What are you currently reading?

The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

I started this one this morning and I am only a few pages in but it’s off to a promising start! It was a book club pick this month and I just so happened to already own it! Carmen gets laid off from her job and has to go live with her sister, Sofia. This is not ideal for either of them. But Sofia gets Carmen a job working in her client’s bookshop just in time for the Christmas. It has cute and sweet written all over it. I can’t wait to get further into it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs

I read this book on the flight back from Florida and finished before the flight ended. Which meant I had to listen to the talkative drunk without a distraction the rest of the flight. Fun. I can’t tell you much about the plot of this book, just that it’s not what you think it is. Also, it’s the 7th of the Mercy Thompson series, so you know I loved it.

Night Broken by Patricia Briggs

The 8th book in the Mercy Thompson series. I adore this series and I’m excited to read this next book in the series. I know, I’ve already read it before, but that doesn’t stop me from looking forward to it!

WWW Wednesday- November 24th

Hello fellow humans! I hope you are ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow and don’t have to go out into the throngs of people today. If you do, I wish you luck and will pray for your safe return to your domicile.

Despite the chaos of the day, today is WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was previously hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. What are you currently reading?

The Unbound Empire by Melissa Caruso

This poor book has been staring at me from my TBR cart for the last year. And I finally picked it up. I just started it last night, so I haven’t been able to form an opinion yet, but what I have read I am really enjoying. So I guess I have formed an opinion. I will say this book, which is the final book in the Swords and Fire series, has a lot to live up to. Good luck book!

What did you recently finish reading?

River Marked by Patricia Briggs

I basically hit a wall in my reading this month so I decided to pick up a book I know I would enjoy to help me get out of the slump. I really enjoy the Mercy Thompson series, if you haven’t guessed from my previous posts where I wax poetically about the books. It’s only a problem if you admit it. This, by the way, is book number six in the series.

Out Of The Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis

It was quite a surprise when I learned that C.S. Lewis, who brought us The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, also wrote a sci-fi novel. Naturally, I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. It’s a short book, so it’s perfect to try and read during the next couple of crazy days.

Good luck today with your Thanksgiving prep. And I promise you, your house is clean enough.
